At this time, Barga was strategically important as it was the centre of the silk industry in Tuscany.

The interior was designed by a Tuscan architect who has maintained original features such as arches within the setting of a fully functional home.

The stairs leading up to the first floor are not only the original stone stones stairs from when the property was used as a convent, but also have a vaulted ceiling.

The first floor has four bedrooms and three bathrooms as well as a beautiful portico. The master bedroom is very large and has an en suite bathroom. The other three bedrooms are served by two accoustically insulated bathrooms. These floors were completely rebuilt in terracotta.

The entire house has been insulated with 10cm of insulation.

On the lower floors, there are huge cantinas, a bar, a workshop, access to the lower garden, a laundry and a study.

There is high wattage electric provision for all the systems and the water is heated with solar panels.
