Agriculture (mainly avocados, mangos and custard apples) still plays a significant part in the local economy. A working olive oil mill is two kilometres from the house. There are various watersports in the nearby Marina del Este, riding, paragliding and skiing in the Sierra Nevada (90mins drive).
