A great deal of attention has been given to the interior design with natural materials used wherever possible - travertine (used for all bathroom floors and wall tiles) and solid chestnut (for floors and window sills) for example.
The grounds have been designed to be in keeping with the environment yet conducive to entertaining and relaxation. Several specimen plants and trees are highlighted by garden walls or floodlighting. A small azalea garden and orchard provide quiet areas. A large stone barbeque; set between the mill and the Shepherd's Cottage, allows for plenty of al fresco dining. Whilst the hilltop town of Coreglia Antelminelli, voted one of Italy's most beautiful villages, completes the Tuscan scenewith its church tower at the end of the valley. The mountains behind the pool create a dramatic backdrop, whilst the river Ania can be heard just the other side of the stone boundary wall.
Villa: enter the mill on the ground floor through the large entrance into the kitchen from the terrace; through those doors you catch the first glimpse of the original millstones. The kitchen and dining room in the mill have been finished with traditional design and practicality in mind. A local quarry was chosen for the stone used for the flagstone floors and polished work surfaces. This ground floor houses the three original millstones which have been illuminated to create a stunning entrance impact. There is a cloakroom on this floor with WC, wash hand basin, and built in washing machine and tumble dryer. Secure rooms are provided for the boiler and a store. Stone stairs; with cupboard underneath, lead to a large hallway on the first floor. The formal 'front door' entrance to the mill also opens into this hallway. The hall takes you to the main reception room; to a balcony that extends across the front of the building; and to the first floor bedroom suite. The large reception room; with open fireplace and lots of natural light, provides an excellent space in which everyone can relax or socialize. The mill has a 'bedroom suite' on both the first and second floors; each one is comprised of a sitting room leading to two bedrooms and a beautifully finished bathroom. The suite on this floor has a sitting room with open fireplace; one double room; one twin room; and a bathroom with French doors out into the garden. The solid chestnut staircase leads from the hallway on the first floor to a large landing on the second floor. To the left is the master bedroom with en suite bathroom and built in wardrobe/storage. To the right of the landing is the second floor bedroom suite. On this floor you enter the sitting room and have a double bedroom with French doors leading onto a private balcony; a full bathroom; and a small double bedroom overlooking the meadow and river.
Shepherd's Cottage: On the ground floor there is a laundry room with washing machine; tumble dryer and storage. The main sitting room is double height and has a wood burning stove for atmosphere and to compliment the gas central heating system. A galley kitchen; a shower room; and a double bedroom have also been designed into this former shepherd's cottage to provide a self-contained home for staff or friends. There are two rooms on a second floor within the Shepherd's Cottage - they are mezzanine rooms, to allow for maximum light both upstairs and downstairs, you can see the gallery enclosing one above the bedroom. Both can only be accessed from the outside and are currently used as an office and the gardener's store room.
Ivy Barn: This has been transformed into a stunning games room, perfect for evening entertainment but also used in the heat of the day, as it stays very cool.
