VILLAGE OF BUTOVO
Village of Butovois located 30 miles north-west from the Historical City of Veliko Tarnovo and 6 miles from Town of Pavlikeni, 10 miles south to the Town of Suhindol and 4 miles in the same direction from the Village of Varbovka, 6 miles north of Town of Levski, about 140 miles south-west to the capital City of Sofia.
The village is situated in the Danube plain, about 130 m altitude. The river Lomya passes through the village. The population numbers about 900 people.
Butovo has a well developed infrastructure and redevelopment. There are fully built electricity and water systems, also there are a food shops, restaurant, post office, petrol and gas stations, community center and church. Here operates the only factory to produce facing bricks and facade.
The village has a kindergarten and the nearest schools are in the Village of Varbovka and the Town of Pavlikeni. Butovo benefits with regular bus and train transport, which provides links to the country. Nearby pass two important transport corridors in the country - the highway Sofia-Veliko Tarnovo-Varna is 20 miles south of the village and the international road Sofia-Pleven-Ruse-Bucharest is located 10 miles north.
TOURISM AND ATTRACTIONS:
During excavations in the village were discovered tombs and artifacts from jewellery, coins and other from the Thracian times in the IV century BC. Today, those found items can be found at Veliko Turnovo Archaeological Museum.
An interesting fact is that in the area "Chatala", located near the Butovo, a volcano worked before two million years. At the moment a water springs from its foot which is said to have healing properties. Annually the first Saturday of November is held council.
PAVLIKENI & REGION
Pavlikeni Municipality is situated in the North-Central region of the country. It occupies the west-central part of Veliko Turnovo District.
The Town of Pavlikeni is situated in the central part of the Danubian Plain, at a distance of about 2 miles north of the Rositsa River and very close to the Karaisen Lake. It's located near the cities of Veliko Turnovo, Levski, Sevlievo and Byala.
The hilly type of some settlements, the environment and the interesting natural sights in the Municipality are prerequisites for the development of tourism.
The Town of Pavlikeni is not far to the mountains, which offers great outdoor activities
and sports opportunities all year long - skiing in the winter and hiking or barbecue/picnic in summer seasons.
VELIKO TURNOVO & REGION
The Historical Veliko Turnovo, located on the famous "Yantra River" (the 3rd longest Bulgarian tributary of the Danube River) is one of the most seeked destinations for tourists in Bulgaria.
Situated at the foot of Stara Planina Mountains in North Central Bulgaria, it attracts many tourists due to its unique architecture and history. The houses, stacked one above the other, situated on the sloppy hills of the city show a remarkable, unique architectural style.

The closest ski resort is in "Uzana" (pics below), the geographic center of Bulgaria, located at about 28 miles from Veliko Turnovo. There are several hotels in the resort which provide tourism opportunities and good conditions for relaxation among the quiet and calm atmosphere of the mountain throughout the year. The surrounding sites of Uzana are suitable for spaleology and rock climbing. There are possibilities for cultural tourism in the region. In the nearby open-air "Ethnographic Museum Etara" people can learn more about Bulgarian crafts. The "Sokolski Monastery" is situated a few miles away from Uzana.
