- French doors opening from both the sitting room and main bedroom onto the balcony
- Fully-restored 70 sq.mt. apartment in a centuries-old stone house
- Peaceful and quiet, but only minutes walk from the main street of Alvito
- Stone-vaulted cantina with separate entrance adds storage space
Appartamento San Biagio enjoys splendid panoramic vistas from on high, across the valley to the distant mountains. Its living / dining room has French doors opening on to a small balcony, which runs the length of this room and the adjacent main bedroom, with a view straight over the valley. Although the balcony isn't very deep, the french doors make the interior of the room seem part of the outside space.
There is a good-size main bedroom, again with fine views over the valley, and again with French doors opening on to the balcony so that the same stunning view and feeling of airy space can be appreciated from the bed.
A second smaller sitting room can be used as a tv room / study / guest bedroom.
There is a nice well-fitted kitchen, surprisingly spacious for such an apartment, and a modern bathroom with a shower and washing machine. All rooms open off a central hallway.
An attractive stone-vaulted cantina with its own separate entrance completes the facilities and ensures plenty of storage space.
The apartment is set in the heart of the historic centre of Alvito and a couple of minutes walk down through the maze of little medieval alleys and flights of stone steps brings you from the apartment into the main street of Alvito. Here, there are some very nice restaurants and cafés, many little shops, banks, post office, a petrol station, pharmacy, hairdressers, etc., etc.
There is good road access to the streets above and below the apartment and nearby public car parking.

ALVITO AND THE CIOCIARIA
Alvito is one of the major medieval hilltop towns in the area of Italy called the Ciociaria, the name given to the fertile land that lies south of Rome but north of Naples, situated inland in the hills in the heart of Italy.
The Ciociaria region is within easy reach of both Rome and Naples and their respective airports. A day's shopping in Rome is a common pastime, while an even shorter drive brings you to the charming beaches south of Rome. Alternatively, drive east, and the mountains of the Abruzzo National Park await with horse trekking in the magnificent beech forests, and sparkling mountain lakes and rivers where you can swim in the heat of the summer. And at the other extreme of temperature, although Alvito itself is temperate, less than an hour's drive brings you to the winter ski slopes.
Often overlooked, both by tourists and by those foreigners in search of an Italian home, in favour of the more publicized regions of Tuscany and Umbria, the Ciociaria remains largely an unspoilt gem with beautiful scenery and medieval hilltop towns. A home or second home in the Ciociaria, in the hilltop towns of Alvito, Arpino, Veroli, Alatri or in the rolling countryside that surrounds them, will afford you a setting where over two thousand years of history combine with an idyllic rural Italian lifestyle, where you can still discover the 'real' Italy and take time out from the busy crowds of the larger tourist cities, while being less than ninety minutes journey from central Rome or either of Rome's two airports.
