Santiago de la Ribera is actually joined with San Javier. Close by is the Dos Mares shopping mall with a large Eroski supermarket. The popular La Zenia Boulevard is less than a 20 minute drive away. San Javier airport is a 15 minutes and Alicante 55 minutes.

The lovely town of Santiago de la Ribera is the name given to the beach part of San Javier and it lies within the Murcia region, on the shores of the Mar Menor.

Santiago has a very lovely promenade flanked by attractive palm trees. Today Santiago is still popular with the Spanish for their vacations but also attracts visitors from all over Europe and although it has a modern air, it has still maintained a lot if its original charm and is not over developed.

The 4 kms of fine sandy beaches with calm, shallow waters, are ideal for all kinds of water sports and activities.

The 'Dos Mares' shopping centre is nearby and has a wide range of shops, family friendly restaurants, an arcade and bowling alley. A little further is a new retail and leisure development at La Zenia (20 minutes by car). The major cities of Cartagena and Murcia are also easily reached by car or bus.

Santiago de la Ribera is just a 10 minute drive from San Javier airport and is the perfect location for a holiday home or a permanent residence. Whilst the population grows in Summer, unlike some destinations it does not become " dead " in Winter and has a healthy number of permanent residents which sustain local business, services and activities. Whilst having a car would be useful to explore the many interesting places nearby, it is not essential
