Situated in the heart of the countryside, yet only 8km from the large town of Lisieux, an hour by car from the city of Caen, the ferry port and Carpiquet airport, and only 30 minutes to Deauville and the beach is our classic 'Maison Normande' with its collombage (timbering) and stone. It's set in over two acres of beautiful garden with a stream running in front of the house, a large pond, an orchard, lovely planted boarders and a walled vegetable garden. Please see photos!

There are two enormous reception rooms - the living room has a huge stone inglenook fireplace and a white marble floor; the family room/ dining room has a vaulted ceiling, antique terre cuite floor, and a faience ceramic stove. On its mezzanine level is the study. There are massive oak beams throughout and French doors leading to the terraces.

The kitchen has a stone floor, a large central island, two sinks (one a butler) and granite worktops throughout. On the walls are a mosaic of 19thc tiles. There is also a Le Canche cooker with two ovens, a Miele dishwasher and microwave. The kitchen opens out to the conservatory breakfast room. There is also a fully fitted laundry room and toilet just off the kitchen.

On the first floor is the very large master bedroom with lovely carved oak cupboards, and vanity unit, along with another potential bedroom, (presently used as a dressing room). There is also a large marble bathroom with a Jacuzzi, two basins, and toilet. There is an additional WC, basin and shower on this floor.

On the second floor are two bedrooms, one large, one small and a large landing with space for a guest bed and extensive cupboards.

We have renovated the house to a very high standard. The central heating is a combination of gas and a heat pump.

Outside, there is a studio apartment, which we use for guests, but with its fully equipped kitchen, shower, basin and WC it could provide income as a popular 'gite'. Adjacent to the studio apartment is our fully heated indoor swimming pool 10m X 5m, complete with underfloor heating and its own heat pump, leading out to a private terrace with fountain.

There is a single garage (with built in workbench and a supplementary washing machine, dryer and laundry sink - good for guests!) There is further sheltered parking under the large oak abri next to the electric gates to the property.

There is a walled potager (vegetable garden) with raised beds for easy maintenance, and well- stocked with soft fruit bushes, herb garden and espaliered fruit trees. There is a modern greenhouse as well.

At the top of the property is the orchard with its apple, cherry, plum and walnut trees, and a spectacular view of the Calvados countryside. There is a gloriette to sit under and enjoy a glass of wine or Normandy cidre on fine evenings. And a lovely little wooden chalet with a frig to keep the drinks cool.

If you love the peace and tranquility of the country, but don't want to be too remote, this place is ideal. There are lovely towns, and villages to visit, each with a unique charm, but if you occasionally long for the glamour and excitement, the direct Inner Cites trains from Lisieux will whisk you directly to the heart of Paris in 1hr 20min.
