There is a weekly street market every Monday. The town centre has a small plaza and church which forms the centre of activity during the lively Summer fiestas. With good motorway links, Hacienda Riquelme is just a 20 minute drive from San Javier airport, Los Alcazares, and the Mar Menor beaches. The cities of Murcia and Cartagena are less than 30 minutes away and offer an array of shopping facilities, historical sites and cultural events. The popular La Zenia boulevard located in Orihuela Costa is 30 minutes away and has lots to offer for shopping, dining and entertainment.

The town of Balsicas is a 10 minute drive away and has a train station which connects to Murcia and from there to the rest of Spain.
