Vera is situated in the south east of the Province of Almería (Andalucia) in southern Spain, bordering the Mediterranean Sea. It is 90 km from the capital of the province, Almería. It has two parts the original town and the newer beach area know as Vera Playa. The fabulous beaches have lots of beach bars and restaurants and yet there are many idyllic remote beaches as well. For golfers there are five golf courses in the area, Playa Macenas, Cortijo Grande, Valle del Este, Marina de la Torre and Desert Springs Nearby is the fishing port of Garrucha and Villaricos, both of which have marinas. There are lots of activities in the area such as Karting, a Water Park, an aerodrome, diving, horseback riding, hiking, as well as a wide variety of entertainment and recreation, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The area has more than 3000 hours of sun per year. The medium yearly temperature is around 20 °C. Winter is normally mild, with the marine temperature higher than the air temperature. Communication is very good as the motorway is just a few kilometres away, with Almeria airport at 90km, Murcia at 150km and Alicante at 220km. The high speed train will be running to Vera.
