Inca lies half way up the motorway from Palma to Alcudia. It's Mallorca's third-largest town and is best known as the 'city of leather' - if you come on an organised tour you will undoubtedly be taken to a leather factory. Shop around, but the bargains these days are few and far between. It is also home to the well-known shoe brand, Camper.Inca has one of Majorca's biggest markets. Every Thursday the streets around Placa d'Espanya are taken over by row upon row of stalls. Plenty of leather here, of varying quality, plus jewellery, carved olive wood, lace and fresh produce from across the island. Placa d Espanya itself becomes an open-air flower show. As Inca lies on the main train line, access is cheap and easy from the city of Palma.Near here are a smart coffee-house, Cafe Mercantil, with upholstered leather chairs, and Ca'n Delante (Carrer Major 27), one of Mallorca's top pastry shops. Inca is also known for its sellers, old wine-cellars turned into restaurants featuring traditional dishes at reasonable prices.Mallorca's biggest autumn fair is held in Inca. Known as Dijous Bo (translates as Good Friday), originally this was an agricultural fair that has grown to include exhibitions, music concerts, fireworks and all-night parties.
