The rectangular swimming pool has 50 square yards surface area. The gardens have fruit trees (3 orange, 3 lemon, 2 plum, 4 olive, 3 apple, 2 pear, 2 pomegranate, 1 nectarine, 1 fig, 1 almond and 1 persimmon). There are palm trees, flowers and shrubs, a pergola with a grape vine, and a vegetable area. The house has a raised position, on the edge of a village with clear unspoiled views at the rear over the Guadiamar river and open countryside, the front faces the village across a creek.
Although the village has only 200 or so inhabitants, as a stopping place half-way to Aracena from Seville, it has 2 small shops, and 4 bars/restaurants. It is half an hour by car from the city of Seville, mostly via a dual carriageway, and it is cooler than Seville in the summer at an altitude of nearly 800 feet. There is a Mercadona supermaket and a Lidl supermarket in the opposite direction in Aracena, less than 30 minutes by car. The nearest town is 5 miles away.
The surrounding country is mostly evergreen cork and holm oaks and pasture for fighting bulls, cows, goats, black pigs and sheep, and covered with wild flowers in spring. The climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and warm winters with rain in autumn and spring, and although there are occasional frosts in the winter, the sun warms up the land during the day.
It is good for people interested in birds with eagles, buzzards, kites, vultures, kestrels, golden orioles, goldfinches, white and black storks, cattle and little egrets, herons, kingfishers, hoopoes, crested larks, azure-winged magpies, wagtails, nuthatches, nightingales, shrikes, stonechats, swallows, martins, bee-eaters, starlings, blue and great tits, cormorants, sandpipers, serins, blackcaps, blackbirds, black redstarts, robins, sparrows, woodpeckers and other assorted warblers and finches. The Doņana wetland bird sanctuary is close by, just the other side of Seville.
It provides a quiet and idyllic, but totally modernised home in the countryside, with easy access to other amenities and would be an ideal home for anybody with an interest in wildlife, walking, gardening, painting and/or writing who also want the benefit for them and for their visitors of a city half an hour away with both an international airport and high speed rail (just over 2 hours to Madrid). On the border with Huelva province and 62 miles from Portugal, it is about an hour by car to the nearest beach, and 2 hours by car to the Algarve. It is also excellent gastronomically, especially for local Iberian pork, wild boar, venison, wild mushrooms, fruit and vegetables.
