The property is in a beautiful, bright and completely secluded spot only 15 minutes drive from the market town, Orgiva. 14 acres of unspoilt land surround the house - sloping down to a riverbed. The property is at the top and back of its territory so overlooks most of the land. There are magnificent views across La Alpujarra mountains towards the coast. On a clear day the peaks of the Atlas mountains can be seen from the kitchen sink! The land is predominantly wild scrub - rosemary, broom and thyme (it smells wonderful) and there are about 20 olive trees, an old vine, myrtle and poplar. We have also planted some fruit trees (mulberry, peach, orange, lemon, plum, cherry and pomegranate.) As there is a lot of water (from a spring) and 2 albercas, the land has the potential to be transformed into beautiful and fertile gardens. There are several flat terraces where caravans⁄ yurts could be installed.
The nearest village, Carataunas, is a 5 minute drive. Carataunas has a bar, a children s play area and regular visiting vans (selling bread, fruit and veg) stop here at certain times. The local schools are in Orgiva and there is a free school bus that stops at the entrance to the track that leads to the property.
Cortijo la Isla is perfectly quiet - there are no barking dogs⁄ traffic to be heard- only the sounds of trickling water and unspoilt nature. It is waiting for the right owners to fulfil its potential.
