Full description:
The post and rail driveway leading to Dowlish Brook House hints at the detail and care that has been lavished on this unique conversion of former barns. The result is a stylish, modern home of natural stone, with abundant and flexible accommodation cleverly arranged on differing levels to take advantage of far reaching views across the property's own meadowland.
Quality materials such as hardwood external doors and windows, coupled with a double roman tiled roof are duplicated inside Dowlish Brook House, where the attention to detail continues with generously proportioned, high ceilinged rooms, full of exposed beams and character; of particular note the stunning open roof framed drawing room, well appointed bathrooms and large central, fitted kitchen complete with Aga.
The grounds lie to the east and south, incorporating sweeping lawns with inset trees and beyond to two good sized paddocks, which are divided by Dowlish Brook. There is also a large sheltered sun terrace, ideal for summer entertaining.
That this is a good quality house is not in doubt. The real surprise however is the setting, looking out over a timeless landscape of pasture and mixed woodland.
In all, a little under 10 acres.

The Location
The hamlet of Moolham, which consists of a handful of houses, lies just a mile from Dowlish Wake, a delightful village tucked away from main roads in a hidden and beautiful part of the South West. Comprising almost entirely period houses built of the local honey coloured stone, the centre of Dowlish Wake is a Conservation Area in which strict planning controls exist to protect its special character and architectural heritage which include a fine 17th Century Pack Horse bridge.
The nearest town is Ilminster, centred around its fine Minster and Market Place, which has a number of traditional shops and boutiques. Other main towns in the area include Chard, Yeovil and Taunton all of which have a good range of facilities.
Communications to the area have improved markedly in recent years. The A303 is now a dual carriageway most of the way to London and provides fast access to the east. Exeter is under an hour away to the west, and junction 25 of the M3 is about 10 miles north of Ilminster. There are mainline railway stations at Taunton (12 miles - Paddington connection) and Crewkerne (6 miles - Waterloo connection)
- Ilminster and A303 within 3 miles,
- Crewkerne (London Waterloo connection) within 8 miles,
- Taunton, Yeovil and M5 within 14 miles.
