Upper Close is situated in a private setting, approached down a no-through lane on the southern side of the village, close to the Church. The village is set amongst attractive downland countryside beside the River Till, a tributary of the River Wylye. Shopping and recreational facilities are available in the Cathedral City of Salisbury about 10 miles to the south.

Road and rail communications are excellent with the A303 to the north and the choice of either Salisbury, Grateley or Andover stations with services to London Waterloo. At Grateley Station, trains into Waterloo take from 1 hour and 17 minutes.
