THE GARDEN VIEW The south wing of the house has the utility room with special dog wet room facilities, and a spacious study complete with custom made cupboards and bookcases. A door at the end of the hallway opens onto the integral garage with remote controlled roller doors.
A stone shingled driveway approaches the house from the south, opening onto a generous parking and turning area. A specially designed raised planter with a variety of architectural plants and traditional perennials, designed to provide colour and interest all the year round, deliberately conceals the water views which are dramatically revealed as the visitor walks round the building to the deck and garden beyond. The deck itself runs the entire length ofthe building and is approached by way of doors from the sitting room and dining room.
THE SEA VIEW The lawned garden beyond stretches down to the waterside, past a number of mature oak trees creating various attractive focal points. Walking down to the bottom of the garden, wide-ranging views may be enjoyed over Langstone Harbour to the east, and towards the Portsmouth skyline and the Spinnaker Tower of Gun Wharf Quays to the west.
THE RECEPTION HALL The dramatic interior draws its inspiration from the clean lines and minimalist architecture of the Modernist movement, with the emphasis on creating light and space throughout the building. The visitor will be impressed as the gently curved oak front door opens onto the lofty 22’ high reception hall with floor to ceiling windows, white porcelain tiled floor. The two-tier Modernist inspired staircase rises to a spacious galleried landing on two sides of the reception hall, complete with reading area and fitted bookcases.
THE DRAWING ROOM The principal reception rooms all look nor th over the garden to the waters of Langstone Harbour. The rooms flow seamlessly one through to the other, although a retractable pocket door screen system can provide divisions if desired. Full height windows from both the drawing room and dining room make the most of the waterside location and have doors opening directly onto the deck and garden beyond. A contemporar y fireplace in the drawing room has a remote controlled gas fire and fully integrated flat screen TV above, hidden behind flush panelling operated by remote control. A fully integrated home entertainment system provides music throughout the house with video and internet connections in all the principal reception rooms and two bedrooms.
THE KITCHEN The kitchen has every appliance one can imagine and an eclectic mix of painted and natural wood finished cabinets all have a hint of the 1930’s design without compromising their essential contemporary style. The gentle cur ves and elliptical design of a number of units take their cue from the elegant lines of the building itself. Walnut, ripple sycamore and painted surfaces create a pleasing contrast, including a glossy red housing to the fan assisted ovens, microwave and steam oven. Off-centre lies a walnut elliptical island with work surfaces in polished dark green Ubatuba granite and recycled glass. This creates a focal point to the room with its specially designed extractor canopy above. Other features include a double bowl sink with granite drainer and Quooker modern boiling water tap, two Fischer & Pacal dishwasher drawers, Liebherr wine cooler, Miele wok hob, induction oven, steam oven and combination microwave oven.
THE DINING ROOM In the dining room a custom made burr ash cocktail cabinet has a distinctly 1930’s feel and lies to one side of the full length sliding doors opening onto the deck and garden. A curved corner larder sweeps from the kitchen gently into the dining room and helps to hide the pocket door screen system which can divide the two rooms.
THE BEDROOMS There are four bedroom suites, each with their own bathroom or shower room. Three of the bedrooms look directly to the water, and the principal suite has its own balcony with far reaching views over Langstone Harbour. In the master bathroom suite the design makes use of bold, monochrome colouring, using sanitary ware from Alessi and charcoal grey stone strip mosaic from Mandarin Tiles.
