Wynnstay Hall is Grade II* listed as the former principal seat of the Williams-Wynns, a family which in the 18th and 19th centuries was reputed to be "one of the richest, most powerful and most profusely hospitable in North Wales". Enlarged and remodelled in 1736-38, various alterations and additions were subsequently made, however a fire in 1858 destroyed much of the original hall and Benjamin Ferry was engaged to rebuild the hall in the 16th century French Renaissance style, for the 6th baronet. The grounds are laid out as landscape pleasure gardens, attributed to Lancelot "Capability" Brown around 1777, with design continuing after his death by John Evans until 1785. The hall was converted for use as a school in the mid 20th century. More recently, the Estate has been extensively developed into a number of attractive and individual houses and apartments.
