Coed Bryn Dderwen comprises WELSH OAK woodland extending to some 3.52 hectares (8.70 acres) on a north east facing slope on the Avon Cwnin in north east Carmarthenshire.
The woodland comprises Sessile Oak and has been desiganted semi ancient woodland. The woodland has been managed by the current owner with appropriate thinnings being carried out and the majority of wood comprises extremely straight and well established oak.
Directions - From our office proceed to the end of Lammas Street. Bare right at the mini roundabout take the last exit into St Catherine Street. Proceed to the traffic lights and turn left into Water Street. Proceed on this road for 5.2 miles, travelling through Trevaughan and the village of Bwlchnewydd, on reaching the top of the next hill, pass the turning to Talog/Abernant, and continue to the left Blaenycoed turning left for Blaenycoed. Proceed along this road for 1.8 miles and on entering Blaenycoed turn left immediately before the green agricultural buildings. Proceed along this district road for 1.1 miles. On passing over a small humpback bridge the entrance to the woodland will be immediately on the left hand side.
Access - Access is via a vehicular access track from the public road and the woodland passes through the Penlas Wood (under private ownership) before entering Coed Bryn Dderwen. The track is used by the owners of four woods, who jointly have a liability to contribute towards the cost of maintenance of the track according to use.
Management Plan - Prospective purchasers are advised that a management plan and plan of operations contract for the implementation of grant aided work and felling licence permission under the Better Woodlands for Wales Scheme between the Forestry Commission and the vendor.
