Kinharvie Hall dates from around 1850, and was built in Scottish Gothic style by James Barbour for Marmaduke Constable Maxwell, 10th Baron of Terregles, originally as a shooting lodge to the Maxwell Estates.

In the 1920s, a chapel was added for Gwendolen Mary Constable Maxwell, later Duchess of Norfolk. Kinharvie remained in the Maxwell family until it was acquired by the Marist Brothers for use as a religious retreat and training centre.

Kinharvie was fully restored and refurbished in 2008, within extensive parkland grounds, accessed by gated driveways through a long tree-lined avenue which sweeps round a pond with centre fountain.
