The Isle of Islay lies off the south west coast of Scotland, just north of the Northern Irish coast and is a paradise for bird watchers and archaeologists. The ferry journey from Kennacraig to Port Ellen takes approximately 2 hours 20 minutes. The island has its own airport with twice-daily flights from Glasgow. There is also a frequent ferry service to Jura and, in the summer months, a weekly sailing to Oban and Colonsay.

Directions
On arriving by ferry in Port Ellen, turn left onto the A846 and left again before the Maltings. Go down that road and follow it for half a mile, going through a T junction. The plots are approximately 50 metres past the junction and are signposted on the right hand side of the road.

Description
The plots are situated in a superb location, facing south east on a slightly elevated but level site, approximately five minutes' drive from Port Ellen. There are sweeping panoramic sea views to the front which give a vista of the ferries coming and going, as well as other yachts and boats. To the rear and side are excellent open countryside views. Planning
Outline Planning Permission was granted on the 14 December 2009 (Ref: 09/00480/OUT) for the erection of a single dwelling on each site.

The architect-designed dwellings will be in-keeping with the surroundings and are designed to blend in with the countryside, with materials traditional to the area being used, eg. smooth rendered finishes and natural slate roofs. Each house will combine a contemporary style with the traditional West Highland vernacular.

Copies of the architects' drawings will be available to seriously interested parties.
