An enchanting, Welsh stone cottage elevated above the village of Llanfechain with views over the Long Mountains. Separate one bedroom annexe. In all about 4.14 acres
Plas Onn stands in a quiet, secluded location nestling into a south facing hillside with views across the Long Mountain. The small but thriving village of Llanfechain is situated in the valley below with the historic 12th century church of St Garmons at its centre, a pub and well attended primary school. The traditional town of Llanfyllin is within four miles and has a local store, medical centre, a bank and a hotel. A wider range of amenities and supermarkets can be found in Oswestry and Welshpool. Shrewsbury is approximately 23 miles from where the A5/M54 provides easy access to the Midlands and national motorway network.
The area is noted for its unspoilt rolling countryside with a network of quiet lanes, foot and bridlepaths. The beauty spots of Lake Fyrnwy and Llanrheadr Waterfalls are nearby with golf courses at Welshpool and Oswestry. There are secondary schools at Llanfyllin, Oswestry and Welshpool while in the private sector there are a range of schools within daily driving distance including Packwood Haugh Prep School, Bellan House, Oswestry School, Moreton Hall and Shrewsbury school.
Plas Onn is an enchanting stone farmhouse with converted barn
annexe standing in mature south facing gardens with panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The house belonged to the neighbouring Bodynfoel Estate and was the farmhouse to the surrounding farmland until sold towards the end of the 20th century.
Broadband is through Air band which uses radio signals from a mast on top of the Long Mountain. The present owners of Plas Onn are experiencing Broadband speeds of approximateley 20MB.
Thought to have been built in the early 17th century, the house is of local Welsh stone with a part timber frame under a slate roof. The house is still traditional in style with beamed ceilings and a large inglenook fireplace dominates the dining room.
The bedrooms have views across the Long Mountain.
Across a York terraced courtyard is the wisteria clad barn which has been converted to provide further accommodation along with a drawing room with oak floor and a glazed door which opens onto the gardens.
The south facing garden is a haven for bird life. There are a selection of fruit trees, soft fruit bushes, a well stocked vegetable patch, flower beds and lawns on three terraces. A traditional style shepherd's hut is fitted as an office with electricity and phone line connected. There is parking to the front of the house including a garage with further parking opposite the house.
The field has a water supply and stock proof fencing and slopes down to a wooded gully.
Square Footage: 1,640 sq ft
