Ardshieling has a wonderful setting on the High Street of Earlsferry just across the road from Elie Beach, and only a two minute walk from Elie Golf Course, a highly acclaimed links course.

Elie Beach is a long, deep, sandy beach and is one of the finest in Scotland. It stretches all the way round the bay from Earlsferry to Elie Harbour. The harbour serves as a centre for a sailing club and various water sport activities. Besides being well placed for the beach, Ardshieling is ideally situated for the golf course.

Elie, Earlsferry's neighbour, is arguably Scotland's most popular seaside village, with many professional families from Edinburgh and Glasgow enjoying holiday homes there. The Ship Inn overlooking the harbour is a well known pub and the nearby Peat Inn is one of Scotland's best restaurants.

Earslferry and Elie are on the East Neuk of Fife which boasts fishing villages built around picturesque harbours and sandy unspoilt beaches. St Andrews, "the home of golf", is only 14 miles away; its university is one of the oldest in Britain. There is good private and state schooling in St Andrews, and Dundee and Kirkcaldy are both within easy reach. There are many other golf courses in the area, including new courses at Kingsbarns and St Andrews Bay and traditional links courses at Crail, Leven and Lundin Links.


Ardshieling is a traditional stone-built terraced house dating back to the 1860s. It has been in the same family's ownership since the 1880s and was extended in Victorian times. The property originally comprised a painter's shop as well as a family home. Attached to the rear games room is a store with access from both the games room and the garden. Other outbuildings comprise former garages which could easily be redeveloped.

From Edinburgh cross the Forth Road Bridge and continue north on the M90. Leave the motorway at junction 2a and take the A92 dual carriageway east, continuing to the roundabout on the far side of Kirkcaldy. Turn right at this roundabout and left at the next roundabout onto the A915 and follow this road through Leven to Upper Largo. From Upper Largo take the A917 east for 3 miles and follow this road into Elie.

On entering Elie continue to where the main road turns sharp left. Turn right into Bank Street. Continue on this road on to Earlsferry High Street. Ardshieling will be found on the right at 30 High Street.
