Adam and Jenny watch squirrels hiding acorns under the splendid oak trees in their back garden while sipping coffee at the breakfast bar. They laugh as their two children run from outside into the adjoining playroom.
We're going to miss this house when we move, said Adam. The kids love running around in the woodlands out the back, there are paths everywhere and they love to play and hide there.
The garden has also proved itself to be a wonderful location for both big events and smaller get-togethers with family and friends over the years.
We spend a lot of time in the garden during the summer - we love inviting friends over for a few beers, some Pimms and a barbecue, said Adam. It really is a great house for parties.
Over the last eight years the couple have completely transformed the five-bedroom home, which has clearly benefited from Adam's professional property development expertise.
We have added over 1,000 sq ft, renovated the house from top to bottom and made it into exactly what we wanted, said Adam.
One of the most significant changes is the addition of a single storey extension, which has created a large and airy open plan kitchen and dining room. It is where the couple spend much of their time, both entertaining and as a family with their children. It includes all integrated modern Miele appliances, a sound system and under-floor heating, said Adam, adding that some of the bathrooms incorporate Villeroy & Boch fittings.
We have completely upgraded the entire house and replaced everything, including doors and windows, and made it into a lovely home.
THE HIGH LIFE
One development that makes this property really stand out from the crowd is the loft conversion, which is now home to an impressive master bedroom suite.
This loft room is possibly the major focal point of what we have done - it is all open plan, completely white with coloured mosaic tiles, he said.
In this beautiful space the high-spec bath is located in the bedroom and overlooks the treetops outside.
Our home is really special and we haven't spared any expense doing it up - people are really impressed with what we've done.
The adjoining drawing room and dining room is another area in the house that lends itself perfectly to both cosy family evenings and hosting parties and special occasions.
In the winter we enjoy the fire, said Adam. We have big comfortable sofas, so the kids bring duvets and we all cuddle up and watch the television together.
For the last five years Adam and Jenny have hosted Christmas for both of their families.
It's a beautiful house for entertaining in the summer and winter, he said. There are plenty of rooms, and it is very convenient and spacious.
AL FRESCO FUN
The summer barbecues the couple have enjoyed over the years are numerous and Adam has found that the sound system, which extends into the garden, always helps to create a good lively ambiance.
The children enjoy running around the oak trees and hiding with their friends.
Our kids were born and brought up here; it is a very happy home, he said.
The first glimpse of 2 Carlina Gardens will immediately impress and the modern design of this home is instantly apparent, although it blends well within its conservation area setting. The front of the house is partially covered in ivy and roses and upon stepping inside the sheer elegance and luxury emanates from the hall. Crisp white walls and lines contrast with the grey leather effect feature wall, all tied together with the grey/blue floor tiles. A staircase rises to the first floor and an automatic mood lighting system is also fitted. There is spot lighting around the hallway and doors that guide to the rest of the house. The first room you will find is the drawing room, a great space for relaxed family gatherings with an alluring gas fireplace creating a warm and cosy ambience. Additionally the room boasts a Brian Yates feature wall and solid oak flooring, exuding a luxurious finish. A large bay window to the front allows plenty of light to flood through, while French doors to the rear give access to the garden and terrace. Moving through the room there is an easy flow to the dining room which has the same decadent feel as the drawing room, with a bay window framing views of the garden, the perfect place for entertaining guests.
The kitchen/breakfast room is a contemporary living space and a great deal of time has gone in to creating this opulent area. Designed by Urban Myth, the mix of walnut wood and high gloss off white cabinets work well together providing plenty of storage, while a raised breakfast bar with cream granite work surfaces is a lovely spot for relaxed family gatherings. A range of integrated appliances by Miele include a dishwasher, steamer, microwave, coffee machine, induction hob, Wolf extractor and full length fridge and freezers. The grey/blue tiled flooring enjoys under floor heating and the room as a whole is light and airy with two skylights that are both remotely operated. There is a dining section within the open plan kitchen area with an Aquamarine feature wall and a wall unit that has been built to house the controls for the sound system. The laundry room/utility room is set just off the kitchen and it has been finished to the same standard with a door to the courtyard garden and access to the front garage. Also from the kitchen you will locate the playroom which has three skylights and French doors to the garden. This is a versatile room that could be utilised as a further reception room if required. Completing the ground floor is an office/study with views over the front of the house, a dark wood built in work station with solid oak flooring and cream walls. There is a cloakroom that is finished in the same modern style as the rest of the house with hair/leather effect wall paper contrasting with small mosaic copper tiles and white walls.
Rising to the first floor the high standard of finish continues with a further feature wall being a prominent feature along with contrasting white walls and grey corduroy effect carpet. A staircase ascends to the second floor and this has automatic mood lighting. Bedroom two has a lime pattern effect wall giving it a hedonistic feel and it also benefits from an en-suite shower room with white pearlescent mosaic tiles. The shower itself has a monsoon head and the room enjoys spot lighting and under floor heating. The third bedroom is well proportioned with glorious views over the front of the house, a peachy gold feature wall and three built in wardrobes, a calm and relaxing expanse that is ideal for visiting friends or family. There is also an en-suite with a walk-in double shower, Villeroy and Boch fittings and travertine flooring. Bedroom four looks to the rear of the house while the fifth bedroom also has views to the rear with two built in wardrobes. The family bathroom is a haven in which to relax and unwind with Chocolate bronze Villeroy and Boch tiling, a walk in shower with body jet system and monsoon head, and a large Jacuzzi bath.
The master suite comprises the whole of the second floor and is truly breathtaking, being divided into two sections including the main sleeping area and the bathroom. The bedroom has been designed for the ultimate in comfort and style with a range of fitted wardrobes and cabinets so there is plenty of storage. A stunning Jacuzzi bath is set to the side of the bedroom with two integrated televisions at each end. The suite is equipped with an integrated sound system and two air-conditioning units, along with five remote controlled skylight windows and a mood enhancing light system. The bathroom region of this suite has his and hers Artelina pure white basins with a vanity unit and a huge walk-in shower with monsoon/rain surge shower head. The glass cubicle sections the room off, while purple pearlescent mosaic tiles are used to create a striking feature.
SETTING THE SCENE
Adam and Jenny have made the garden into an area that is both relaxing for adults and enjoyable for children.
It is quite a big area and we have covered the garden paths and put wood chippings down, said Adam. There's also the remains of a 400-year-old oak tree which is really very attractive.
There is a decked terrace with lighting and an external Bose sound system which makes it great for entertaining. As the kitchen and dining area opens up on to the garden the family like to spend time watching the wildlife and often spot woodpeckers as well a variety of other birds.
A gentle stroll up to the pond to feed the ducks is another activity regularly enjoyed by the family.
It's just a three or four minute walk up to the green, he added.
There is a small courtyard garden by the rear of the property and from here you can access the garage. Additionally you will find two garages and parking for two/three cars.
