The A90 dual carriageway is nearby and Brechin lies within commuting distance of both Aberdeen and Dundee, which offer all the facilities expected of major cities. Montrose and Laurencekirk have east coast mainline railway stations with regular services to Aberdeen and the south, including a sleeper. Aberdeen Airport provides a range of domestic and European flights. There are services from Dundee Airport to London City, Birmingham and Belfast. Private schooling is found at Lathallan (Johnshaven) and the High School of Dundee.

The cathedral city of Brechin is well placed to take advantage of the many sporting pursuits the county of Angus has to offer. There is a golf course and squash club at Brechin, with further courses at Edzell and Forfar and the championship course at Carnoustie. Fishing is available on the nearby North and South Esks. The Angus Glens, which form the foothills of the Grampian mountains, offer some of the best hill walking in Eastern Scotland, together with ski-ing at Glenshee in the winter.

Description

Tremont is a most attractive house which dates from the late 1880s. The house was originally known as The Croft, when the surrounding area was farmed, and it was owned by a local distillery to house the manager. The house faces south. Since acquiring the house in 2005 the owners have embarked on a most ambitious programme of renovations. It was extended in 2007 to create the imposing open plan kitchen and family room, with a further bedroom above. At that stage a new central heating system was installed, the shower room and bathroom were refurbished, and a magnificent en suite bathroom was created for the master bedroom. The kitchen was re-fitted, the house re-plumbed and most of the property was redecorated. Double doors were added to link the sitting room to the study, creating an ideal space for entertaining.

It is a stone built house with a slate roof. The extension is block built. It is fully double glazed, with the exception of a small window in the kitchen. Whilst fully modernised the house still retains many of its period features including cornicings, panelled doors, a fine pine staircase and finishings. As such the house is extremely well laid out both for modern family living and for entertaining. Wrought iron gates open onto a gravelled driveway which leads up to the front of the house.

Accommodation

The accommodation comprises ntrance vestibule, hallway, sitting room, dining room, study, open plan kitchen/family room, laundry, larder, master bedroom with en suite bathroom, 4 further bedrooms, bathroom, shower room.

Outside
Attached to the side of the house is a garage with up and over door and a concrete floor.

The garden in front of the house is situated either side of the drive and comprises lawns, hedges, flower and shrub borders. To the rear is a further area of garden. This is enclosed so is ideal for children or pets. Again there is a lawn with flower and shrub borders. Linking to the family room is a paved terrace, which is ideal for entertaining.
