Grade II Listed 2 bedroom cottage with original features, exposed beams, wood burning stove and rear garden.

DESCRIPTION
11 Bridewell Street is a Grade II Listed 2 double bedroom semi-detached period cottage with good-sized kitchen/breakfast room, sitting room with wood burning stove, upstairs bathroom, LPG and electric central heating and courtyard garden. The property is in very good decorative order and has recently had the benefit of a new roof (August 2011). The property has many further attractive features including sash windows, stripped pine doors and exposed beams.

Bridewell Street was once a busy street full of local businesses including a tailor, bell hanger and farmer. Now it is a much quieter residential area leading up to the medieval High Street and "The Beacon", a 16th century octagonal pump house. The name 'Bridewell' originates from a London royal palace built for Henry VIII which later became a poorhouse and prison. In 1767, 5 correction centres or 'Bridewells' were built in the Norfolk area, one of them being in Walsingham and which was used for nearly 100 years.

SITUATION
The Medieval village of Little Walsingham is a centre of pilgrimage, it has two main Shrines: the 14th Century Slipper Chapel is the Roman Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady and the Anglican Shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham, while the Abbey grounds contain the ruins of the original Priory founded in 1153.

For a village of its size, Little Walsingham supports an amazing number of shops, mainly tourist/pilgrim shops but also a Post Office, mini-supermarket, tea shops and 2 pubs. An old farmyard (owned by the Walsingham Estate) has recently been converted into a courtyard of shops and local businesses including a hand made chocolate shop, hairdressers, gift shop and the award winning Farm Shop, just a short stroll away from the affiliated Norfolk Riddle restaurant. The village also has a doctor's surgery and a Community Primary School. Linking Little Walsingham to the coastal town of Wells-next-the-Sea, some 4 miles away, is the Wells & Walsingham Light Railway. Little Walsingham is centrally located for Holt, Burnham Market, Wells-next-the-Sea and the market town of Fakenham.
