Full descriptionLocated 3.5 miles from Lichfield, this stunning 6 bedroom house has a rich history being one of the original grand houses of Staffordshire. EPC rating: F.
Built mainly of red brick with sandstone quoins and dressings, the core of the house is 16th century with later additions. Writing before 1798 in his ‘History and Antiquities of Staffordshire’, Reverend Stebbing Shaw includes an image of a clearly recognisable Whittington Old Hall, dated 1797 and he describes it of ‘ancient structure’.
The hall was bought in 1889 by Samuel Lipscomb Seckham, High Sherriff of Staffordshire who commissioned architect Matthew Holding of Northampton to remodel the property.
In 1959 the estate was sold and the hall was divided into two substantial houses, Number 2 being one of those. It has extensive and well laid out accommodation over three floors.
The gardens are to the south of the house and have been beautifully laid out. There is a brick garage to the side of the house with a workshop area. There is a gravelled driveway for parking along with extra parking to the rear of the house.
