Full description:

Built by Conrad Dressler, in the late nineteenth century and designed by the the French architect Claude Vernier in a classic chateau style. Dressler who was encouraged to come south from the Staffordshire potteries by Robert Hudson, the founder and proprietor of the Sunlight Soap Company, who was living at Danesfield House, Medmenham near Marlow. Together they created the Medmenham Pottery and produced their unique tiles, employing local labour. Some fine examples of their work were found hidden in the large fireplace discovered at the property.

A picturesque period house in the French style providing comfortable yet manageable accommodation. The house exudes notable period details especially the grand fireplace in the drawing room incorporating some tile work, oak flooring, wall panelling and exposed beams only endorse the quality of this fine house. The drawing room is approached via the entrance hall with arched oak doors, a dramatic room enjoying a southerly aspect over the gardens. An inner hallway with ceiling arch leads to the study with dentil ceiling course and decorative fireplace. The double aspect panelled sitting room with fireplace creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. The panelled dining room is characterised by a stunning stone chimney piece with heraldic style back plate and hearth. The kitchen/breakfast room is well fitted with a range of base, wall and dresser units, tiled floor and French style windows to garden. At the rear of the kitchen is the utility room/pantry with access to the kitchen garden and a second cloakroom. The cellar is accessed from the outside. From the drawing room a wide sweeping oak staircase with half landing and window seat, leads to the first floor. There are five bedrooms, one with balcony overlooking the garden and bedroom 5 currently used as a dressing room with the turret staircase leading down to the study. There are two bathrooms and an opportunity to create a principal suite. From the first floor a staircase leads up to the second floor with three attic rooms either for use as storage or possible conversion (subject to the usual consents). Annexe: A self-contained three bedroom annexe with independent access.
Within a private woodland setting with well screened boundaries, the gardens and grounds provide a wealth of colour with well stocked herbaceous borders. On the southern side of the property the gardens are laid to lawn with a variety of mature trees and established shrubs, ornamental pond with brick and paved surround. To the rear of the house is the kitchen garden which has been created in a delightful Parterre style with clipped box hedges and dwarf retaining walls for growing fruit, vegetables and herbs.
Swimming Pool with roman steps set in a paved surround, wooden chalet with kitchen, w.c. and sauna. Tennis Court. Garage: Log store.
