Full description

A detached house with exceptional sea and harbour views, together with parking and garage. Hall, sitting/dining room, kitchen, breakfast room, utility, cloakroom, 3 bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms (2 en suite), sea facing garden, long drive/parking, garage.

The property is set high above the old fishing village of Polperro, on a south facing site and commands views over the harbour and village, coast and sea. This is a stunning position, within the village but providing surprising privacy, accessed off a short private road shared with three neighbours and then by its own long driveway. At a high level above the village the property gains benefit from excellent natural sunlight throughout the day all the year round, and is away from the activity in the middle of the village.

Polperro is one of the most picturesque coastal villages in Cornwall with its deep sided valleys and myriad of colour washed cottages and slate roofs. The stream runs centrally down through the village, straddled by a variety of bridges and cottages. There are numerous small shops, pubs, restaurants and art galleries providing an all year round facility, while there are also many seasonal businesses.

Access into Polperro is limited with most vehicles parking on the edge of the town with a shuttle service by minibus into the centre. West House has a rare advantage of its own driveway (off a private drive also serving three others) parking and garaging, together with access from the village periphery.

The nearby town of Looe, renowned for its deep sea fishing industry, is about four miles away and provides a further range of facilities. From here there is a branch railway line linking to Liskeard on the Penzance to Paddington line. Access to Plymouth is via the A38 and Tamar Bridge with an average travelling time of about 45 minutes by road. The Cornwall South Coast Path runs around the coastline giving access to many parts of this largely National Trust owned coastline.

The detached house dates from the 1970s and is arranged so that all principal rooms enjoy sea views. Updating has included the replacement of windows with uPVC units. The character of the original building remains, with various open beam ceilings. It comprises the following:-
