Full description

This Grade II Listed home sits majestically in the historic town of Brading. With beautiful period features including original beamed ceilings, three Inglenook fireplaces and wonderful gardens these charming houses simply ooze with character and charm.

This home was once a school and dates back to the 17th Century, now a wonderful showcase of period features and history set in The Mall, Brading

a superb location.

Having three reception rooms each with their own Inglenook fireplace and a dining room with the original flagstone floor and bread oven, all these rooms showcase these wonderful beamed ceilings. Flowing through the home this feature is at its heart, a web of craftsmanship and originality. Furthermore the downstairs has the kitchen, study room, sun room and

store room. There are two sets of stairs to the first floor where the three superb double bedrooms (one with an en-suite shower room) and family bathroom are available.

Imagine the stunning Inglenook fireplace with a roaring log burner and on a cold winters evening; well this is a part of the lifestyle in this home and so enjoyed over the years by the owners, their families and friends.

No home such as this would be complete without the picturesque quaint essential English garden, and this one doesn’t disappoint. A beautifully presented mature garden that is enjoyed all year round, however on a

summer’s day in full bloom it is definitely the crowning glory.

Alongside the home there is a large stone barn currently utilised as a garage and above a store room/workshop area, it is believed many years ago in this barn that the local carpenter would make the coffins; part of the history associated with this home and indeed Brading too.

A home with character, charm and history then seek no further if these are your requirements.

What the Owner says:

I am often asked, ‘what’s it like to live here Ann’, well for all these years it has been the same answer – ‘wonderful!’

I truly enjoy living here because it has so much character and charm, the wonderful majestic exposed beams, flagstone floor in the dining room and a lovely garden that I really feel is a special place. Spending
a lovely summers evening in the garden with its array of colours and a glass of wine is a fabulous place and I am sure will be too for the new owners. Alas, for me now it is now time to move on however knowing that aspects of living here I would love to replicate in
my next home, such as the log fired burners and the inglenook fireplaces.

From when I first arrived I knew this was a real home that had history and been Grade II Listed I was not surprised. Once it was a school, however a home now for many years. Alongside the home the large garage and workshop space is a real benefit.

It’s location for me is an important aspect too, as the surgery is local, and the excellent access to footpaths, park and local shop have never been taken for granted.

Overall this is a home I will sadly miss, with its special features, history, and location and not forgetting that wonderful garden too, it makes a great home, now waiting to turn its next chapter with a
new owner!
