The Old Forge was formerly part of Fawley Court Estate which dates back to the 11th Century and was designed by the world famous Christopher Wren and built in 1663 for Colonel William Freeman as a family home. Fawley Court is located about ¾ mile outside Henley-on-Thames offering a fine variety of shops, public houses and restaurants as well as a Waitrose and a hospital. The
town of Marlow also offers further shops and amenities. M40 (junction 4) is about 8 miles and provide access to Heathrow and the national motorway network. There is an excellent and varied
selection of schooling in the area including Rupert House, The Dragon, Moulsford and Cranford House, as well as sporting facilities including rowing on the Thames and a number of fine local golf courses at Huntercombe, Badgemore Park and Henley. The surrounding countryside offers extensive walking and riding through a well-linked network of public footpaths and bridleways.

The Old Forge dates back to the mid 1800s and offers a wealth of character. The Entrance hall which could also be used as a study leads through to the sitting room with beamed ceiling and open fireplace. Double doors open out to the garden. The impressive kitchen/dining room has a vaulted ceiling with exposed beams and painted brickwork walls. There are a range of floor and wall mounted units with central Aga, matt granite work surfaces and slate floors. There is a utility room with space for appliances. On the ground floor there are two double bedrooms and a shower room. Stairs lead to the first floor landing with gallery open to the kitchen and Master bedroom with en
suite bathroom.

To the front of the cottage there is an area of lawn with well stocked flower borders. The gravel driveway provides parking for two vehicles and leads to the garage. The rear walled garden is
landscaped with paved areas and pretty raised flower beds. There is a further terrace with an ornate pond with a water feature and leads to a glass house and storage area. The garden offers a
great deal of privacy and is of a south westerly aspect.

From Henley Bridge proceed straight through the traffic lights up Hart Street. At the next set of traffic lights turn right on to Bell Street and at the mini roundabout take the 2nd exit (A4155)
signposted Marlow. After approx 3/4 mile turn right (opposite the Icehouse Lane), sign posted to Toad Hall, through the large entrance gates and keep to the left. Continue past Toad Hall garden centre on your left and follow the road round sharply to the left. The Old Forge is the second on the right.
