The Glastonbury Suite is one of a number of elegant and individual apartments formed out of one of the two main buildings that originally formed Redlynch Park. It is understood that parts of Redlynch House date back to the 16th Century and belonged to the Earls of Ilchester. By the middle part of the 19th Century much of the building then was abandoned with other parts used as a farmhouse. In 1901 the fifth Earl commissioned Edward Lutyens to convert the service block to a residence. However in 1912 the sixth Earl sold the estate to a property company who sold it on to a series of speculative purchasers and in 1914 parts of the property were seriously damaged by a fire believed to have been started by Suffragettes. The building was repaired and at this stage the 18th Century mansion was demolished. The property passed through several further ownerships after that, culminating in being used as a school in the 1970's. In 1985 the house and stables were converted into apartments.
