Tenure: Freehold

Situated in the small former fishing village of Dornie, Moonfleet is a delightful traditional whitewashed cottage only a short distance from the world famous Eilean Donan Castle. The property was built circa 1880 and has since been successfully extended and converted into a charming home set amidst some of the area's finest scenery and will suit a variety of buyers including those looking for a lifestyle opportunity, or indeed, a beautifully positioned holiday home.

Moonfleet sits proudly in a loch side position in sizeable, easily maintained garden grounds and has parking space for several vehicles. The accommodation is laid out over two levels and comprises entrance hallway leading into the breakfast room which has a Rayburn, distinctive exposed stonework and parquet style flooring. This leads on to the kitchen providing additional space for white goods, with fitted units, electric oven and gas hob. There is a family bathroom complete with WC, wash hand basin and bath with shower over. The sitting room enjoys lovely views over the Loch and beyond and has many features including an exposed stone wall and inset wood burning stove. A conservatory was built onto the side of the property to maximise the position and views. This very much brings the outside inside with the colourful shrubs and plants as well as the views over the water and beyond.

The entrance hallway leads to under stair storage and a carpeted staircase which leads to the upper level. The staircase then branches off front and rear. To the front there are two nicely presented double bedrooms both of a similar size which have the most delightful outlook and the box room in between has been converted into a study/office space. To the rear the staircase leads to a further bedroom and a shower room. The bedroom to the rear has its own private access to a large, raised timber decked terrace overlooking the gardens.

EPC Rating - E

Moonfleet is located in the much admired Highland village of Dornie and is only a short distance from one of the photographed castles in Scotland - Eilean Donan Castle. The Castle is superbly located on a rocky islet at a point where three deep sea lochs meet. The 13th century castle was reduced to utter ruin after a Jacobite uprising in 1719. It was rebuilt as a private home between 1912 and 1932 by John MacRae-Gilstrap.

Dornie is an attractive, small former fishing village in the Kintail district an area popular with outdoor enthusiasts. The area is regarded as one of the best outdoor destinations in Scotland, renowned for its wildlife and rugged beauty. The area is popular with hill walkers, mountain bikers and outdoor enthusiasts and there are a host of attractions on the doorstep including the delights of Skye, Castle Moil, Eilean Ban and of course the previously mentioned Eilean Donan Castle.

Moonfleet is in an excellent central location to explore the West Highlands and Islands. For walkers and mountain bikers there is an abundance of opportunities. The Five Sisters of Kintail, the Cuillins of Skye and the Applecross mountains are within reach. The area also has a variety of wildlife with regular sightings of seals, otters and birds of prey.

The village of Plockton lies within close proximity and with its mild climate due to the Gulf Stream, gaily painted cottages, lines of palm trees on the water front, add a real exotic charm rarely found in Highland villages.

The garden grounds are laid mainly to lawn interspersed with a mixture of trees, herbaceous plants, shrubs and raised decking area. There is an additional storage space to the rear of the property and to the front of the property there is a an attractive walled lochside garden where one can sit and admire the beautiful surroundings and stunning scenery. The garden grounds also make an ideal entertaining venue in the summer months.
