Nether Oldhall is located in pretty East Ayrshire countryside close by the village of Dunlop. The house is located about 75 metres off a minor road (B706) that connects the hamlet of Burnhouse to Dunlop, and from its prominent position, Nether Oldhall has first class views west over adjacent countryside and rolling farmland.
There can be no doubt that Nether Oldhall enjoys a truly rural setting and all associated with rural living, yet the situation is also highly accessible. Dunlop is about 1.5 miles to the east and the larger town of Stewarton is about 3.9 miles to the south east.
Dunlop has a post office/general store and newsagents for everyday provisions, and a pleasant village public house and hotel. At Stewarton there is a more extensive range of shops and amenities that include a Sainsbury supermarket. The Ayrshire town of Kilmarnock is situated about 8 miles to the south-east from Nether Oldhall.
Dunlop has a primary school and Stewarton has a secondary school.
Stewarton and Dunlop both have main line railway stations. Trains offer a regular commuter service, and some of the children in the district attend the independent schools at Glasgow.
Glasgow city centre is about 22 miles to the north-east and as with most major cities provides an excellent range of professional services, higher education, cultural and retail facilities.
For those who are required to travel/commute, a combination of the A736 via Barrhead to Glasgow and the M77 provide excellent access to both Glasgow and the Ayrshire coastline. As stated above there is an excellent train service from Dunlop (1.5 miles) which takes 25 minutes to Glasgow Central. There are also main line railway stations at Stewarton (3.9 miles), Kilwinning (7 miles) and Irvine (11 miles). Travelling further afield is also made easy by access to the international airports of Prestwick (16 miles) and Glasgow (16 miles).
The local area provides numerous sporting and leisure opportunities with extensive walking, cycling and riding trails. As with much of Scotland, one is never too far from a golf course and Nether Oldhall is no exception with Ayrshire having one of the highest concentrations of local inland parkland courses with some of the internationally renowned links courses at the coast. The area is well served by outdoor and country pursuits with numerous local fishing, shooting and stalking opportunities.
Attached steading (in need of attention) offering general purpose stores, steading garage, triple garage/garden equipment stores with new box profile steel sheet roof. 2 loose boxes, tack and feed shed, summer house.
