Tenure: Freehold

Peamore House was built by Lady Jane Grey's father the Duke of Suffolk in the 1500's and is part of the Peamore Estate, which is mentioned in the Domesday Book. When Lady Jane Grey's father was executed the property was attained by the Crown. Soon after it went back into private ownership and was substantially rebuilt into a Tudor House. The house was later "Gothicised" in the 1800s. In the early 19th century the property was remodelled and extended and in 1952 it was run as a country house hotel.

Today Peamore House is divided up into four substantial properties, each retaining a number of original period features. The building is mentioned by Pevsner in his Buildings of England and the plans for the house are held in the V&A in Museum in London.

2 Peamore House has been well-maintained by the current owner, with modern finishes sitting neatly with the original features including shutters, a 'secret door' hidden in the bookcase and fireplaces.

The ground floor accommodation comprises of an entrance hall and library with the staircase to the upper floors and a cloakroom under the stairs. To the left lies the grand drawing room, which was part of the manors original library, and features large sash windows with shutters, wood flooring and a fireplace. A feature 'secret door' hidden in the wall, designed to look like the bookshelves, leads through to a dining room from the hall.To the rear of the house lie the kitchen and the conservatory, both of which would benefit from modernisation, and provide access to the garden.

Upstairs on the first floor is a galleried landing leading to the four bedrooms. The dual aspect master bedroom has access to a 'jack & jill' bathroom. Three further bedrooms and a family bathroom are on this level. The second floor, which is accessed via double doors and a spiral staircase, has a shower room and an abundance of space, ideal for a separate play room and bedrooms for children.

2 Peamore House is situated in an elevated position just 3 miles from the centre of Exeter with views across the surrounding countryside. Exeter is the most thriving city in the South West and offers a wide choice of cultural activities with the theatre, the museum, arts centre and a wealth of good shopping, including John Lewis, and restaurants. There is also a Waitrose supermarket in the city.

Many primary and secondary schools can be found in Exeter including Exeter School and The Maynard whilst Exeter University is recognised as one of the best in the country. The M5 motorway at Exeter provides links to the A38 to Plymouth or the A30 to Cornwall to the South and Bristol and London to the North and East. There are regular rail services to London Paddington from Newton Abbot and Exeter. Exeter International Airport provides an ever increasing number of domestic and international flights including two flights a day to London City Airport.

2 Peamore House is approached via a long entrance drive and has its own south facing garden stretching around the front and side of the house. To the front of the property is a path and steps leading through lawned, bordered gardens to the front entrance. The current owner has planted many shrubs and hedging to create an easy to maintain garden which is in keeping with the period of the house. To the side of the property is a large lawned area surrounded by established trees, including a mulberry, and a grotto seating area. Towards the rear of the house is a herb garden and further seating area outside the conservatory.
