ABOUT WARSOP

With a population of around 15,000, Warsop is to be found on the outskirts of Sherwood Forest. Local creativity about road markings aside, this is a busy, well-connected village, situated halfway between Mansfield and Worksop, just off the A60 and twenty minutes from the M1.

Warsop railway station closed in 1955 but there are murmurings for an eventual reopening of the line (currently freight only) between Shirebrook and Warsop.

Archaeologists are a step nearer discovering whether 200 buried skeletons ("bodies of young men with perfect sets of teeth") found in nearby Cuckney will prove an ancient battle took place near Warsop.
