Situated near the old Camelford Station which took you to Boscastle or Tintagel, Railway Cottage has a lovely link to the history of the area. This charming, character filled holiday cottage has far reaching rural views and is close to the North Cornish Coast and all its beauty. Sound good?

The cottage sits midway between Camelford and Delabole with both being only one mile away. The elevated position means there are fabulous views towards the Moors and 'Brown Willy', the highest point in Cornwall.

The town of Camelford has a great range of local amenities including a Cooperative Supermarket, shops, pubs, a library and leisure centre.

Trebarwith Strand, famous for its surf and the Port William pub sitting above the beach, is only three miles away with Port Isaac, the home of Doc Martin, also only a short drive away. The excitement of surfing can be found at Polzeath and Rock along with a choice of fantastic eateries.

Pull in just off the road and park to the side where there is ample space for two or three vehicles. Step through the back gate where there is a high stone wall to the right and find a large slate paved terrace spanning the width of the cottage.

The very large tiered garden stretches up towards the fields at the rear and is simply landscaped with neat low walling and areas of lawn. At the front of the cottage, a pedestrian gate with Cornish stonewalling to each side forms the front boundary of this lovely cottage.
The single-storey extension to the rear has a small store attached which houses the oil fired boiler and the rear entrance is a little further along on the right.

Step inside to a neat entrance hall with its slate flooring and the small utility room is straight ahead with space and plumbing for a washing machine and tumble dryer.

To the left is a spacious family bathroom fitted with a pine-panelled corner bath, a corner shower cubicle with a thermostatic shower fitting, a pedestal hand basin and a close coupled WC. The slate flooring continues and there is exposed stone to one wall.

The kitchen diner is a lovely surprise! Taking up most of the extension, the high ceiling adds a light dimension to this already spacious room and the stone wall, along with the slate floor add rustic character. Base and wall units sit around the room in an L-shape in a traditional pine finish with marble-effect, roll edged laminate worktops.

For cooking, there is a stainless steel electric oven and four plate hob with a stainless steel extractor above. An integrated under counter fridge keeps the look tidy and a Belfast sink with a swan-neck mixer tap sits under one of the three windows.

Step through into the charming sitting room with its large inglenook fireplace taking centre stage. Standing proudly within is a wood-burning stove providing additional warmth on those wild winter nights! The slate flooring continues and there is a window to the front with a view to the countryside beyond and the front door.

To the right of the fireplace, there is a door to a large double bedroom which could also be used as an additional living room. The exposed stone of the chimney breast adds character along with more of that lovely slate flooring and windows to all sides let the light flood in.
Another bedroom on the ground floor is found on the other side of the living room and this is currently set up as a single. The slate flooring continues and there is another of those fantastic inglenooks! Tremendous!

Upstairs, there is a small landing with a pretty casement window above a deep slate sill, perfect for displaying some special treasures. Wide golden floorboards flow throughout the upstairs rooms and lend yet more rustic character to this super cottage.

Just to the right, there is a step up to a charming and useful cloakroom. This is fitted with a wall-hung basin and a close coupled WC in a traditional style.

At the front of the cottage is a small double bedroom with exposed A-frames and a view over the countryside. The rustic exposed floorboards continue and the room is flooded with light.
The master bedroom is last but not least! This generous double has a vaulted ceiling with exposed A-frames adding to the light and airy feel. The exposed stone of the chimney breast wall features the sweetest little fire opening. How charming!

A window to the front with a deep slate sill lets lots of light in and there is a lovely view over the countryside. A small built-in wardrobe and the golden tones of the exposed floorboards finish things off beautifully.

The Vendor Thinks: Myself and my family very much enjoyed completely renovating and holidaying in Railway cottage over the last 15 years. It could have been easier and cheaper to flatten the site and start anew, but we were desperate to retain as many of the original 1880 features as we could. We are happy with our achievement and we will be pleased that another family, especially with small children, can enjoy it in the future.

My Place Thinks: What a fantastic holiday cottage this is! There is so much typical Cornish Character here and the space is really surprising. The location is very convenient for the coast and the garden is huge! We really like it. What do you think?

Please note this cottage has an occupancy restriction and may not be used as your permanent residence.
