Full description

Struthan is a delightful detached 4 bedroom cottage situated in a generous garden in the village of Salen, on the Isle of Mull.

Rooms: - Porch - Hall - Lounge Diner - Kitchen - 4 bedrooms - Family Bathroom - Garage

Overview: - Struthan is a delightful detached 4 bedroom cottage situated in a generous garden in the village of Salen, on the Isle of Mull. Originally a traditional cottage this property has been renovated and extended to provide a spacious family home. The single storey property comprises a spacious lounge diner, kitchen, family bathroom, 1 single and 3 double bedrooms. Formerly part of the original cottage, the lounge feels bright with plentiful natural light provided by 3 large Velux windows. The exposed beams and the wood-burning stove are lovely features in this room. The kitchen is well proportioned and offers views over the rear garden. All three of the double bedrooms are generous and the master bedroom benefits from built in wardrobes. The rear extension was added in 2007 and the whole property benefits from double glazing throughout. Heating and hot water is provided by a Stratford stove located in the lounge. The rear extension benefits from an external door which could allow this property to be sub-divided to provide a possible granny flat or annex (subject to necessary consents). A building warrant has been granted by Argyll & Bute Council for the extension and alteration to form en-suite / shower room. This property would make an excellent family home or a spacious holiday home. Viewing is highly advised.

Outside: - Struthan is situated within a generous plot which provides plentiful driveway parking to the side of the house and then extends behind the house. The majority of the garden is lawn with trees at the far end of the garden. The owners currently have this area fenced for chickens. To the side of the house is a garage which benefits from lighting and power. Surrounding the house is a gravel area with small flower beds and shrubs and a wooden fence marks the front boundary.

Location: - Struthan is situated within the village of Salen. The village is an excellent central location from which to explore Mull. The village is well known for its castle dating back to circa 1200 which lies to the north of the River Aros. The castle which has long been a ruin, commands a lovely position on a 50ft high headland with views across the Sound of Mull. The scenic parkland, Aros Park which provides lovely views of Tobermory and Calve Island is close by and the village itself has several amenities, including the islands largest primary school where Gaelic is taught, as well as a shop, doctors practice and various places to eat. There are also walks, fishing, and local wildlife tours departing from the village. Salen is a short 20 minute drive from Craignure Ferry Terminal where there are regular ferries to the mainland town of Oban.
