Full description

Tenure: Freehold

Tyddyn Amlwg is a pretty stone farmhouse which occupies an exceptional position in the heart of the spectacular 6,000 acre Dyfnant Forest. Accessed via a forestry trail, the house is a perfect hideaway from the modern world, situated completely on its own and having wonderful views, along with the rare benefit of uninterrupted night skies.

Believed to have been built in the 1800s, Tyddyn Amlwg has belonged to the current owners since the 1960s. Whilst some improvements to the property were carried out just over ten years ago, the property is now in need of some updating but offers huge scope for the next owner.

The ground floor accommodation comprises a large kitchen/dining room, utility room, a sitting room, bathroom and shower room. To the first floor there are four good sized bedrooms all with views over the surrounding countryside.

***Please note that there is a footpath which runs in front of the property and down the drive. THIS IS INSIDE THE GROUNDS OF THE PROPERTY.***

The Dyfnant Forest is in a part of Wales renowned for its rolling hills, lush green valleys and picturesque farmsteads and hamlets. There are excellent walking and horse riding opportunities in the immediate vicinity, with Lake Vyrnwy, the Snowdonia National Park and the coast also within easy reach.

For the train enthusiast, there is a narrow gauge railway with its steam engines running between
Llanfair Caereinon and Welshpool.

There is a shop, post office and petrol station in the nearby village of Llwydiarth (4.5 miles). Further amenities are available in Llanfair Caereinion (14 miles) which also has a well renowned secondary school. Another good secondary school can be found at Llanfyllin (12 miles), which has a bus service which stops at the entrance of the forest. The towns of Welshpool and Oswestry are slightly further afield, while Shrewsbury (38 miles) is also within reasonable driving distance.

The house is accessed by a long drive which runs through the land. To the right hand side there is a large wildlife pond. The grounds immediately around the house are split in to a number of areas of interest. There is also a poly tunnel to the side of the house and a number of outbuildings.
