Vendor Interview - This beautiful period home, which once formed part of the Gopsall Estate, sits in a superb position within the quiet village of Norton-Juxta-Tywcross. We purchased the property in 1997, says Jo, and we soon discovered that it has a fascinating history. It was once part of a working farm and its actually only had four previous owners in its 140 year history.

The house was definitely in need of some TLC when we took ownership, continues Jo, but because it hadnt had an awful lot done to it over the years it retains an array of really beautiful original features, which we have preserved and enhanced. There are some gorgeous margin light windows, beautiful fireplaces and it also has the most magnificent chimneys which really make the house stand out.

Apart from updating the decor, I suppose the biggest change we made was to create a much larger kitchen from a part of the house that was once a Post Office; it had been closed for some years but it still had the old counter, which was quite a challenge to remove. Its now a lovely big family kitchen/diner.

The character of the house was definitely a real draw, but it was the garden that proved to be the main attraction for me. Im a very keen gardener, and the size and potential of the space proved to be very appealing. The property holds a corner position within the village and there are seven mature Yew trees around the perimeter, which gives it a wonderful feeling of privacy. Ive created lots of pretty flowerbeds, a vegetable garden and we also have a pretty area of woodland. Its a beautiful space.

Favourite Room: I suppose our favourite part of the house changes with the time of day and the seasons, says Jo. The sitting room with a fire roaring away is where we gravitate to in winter, the dining room provides the perfect backdrop to a big dinner party, the garden room is a lovely place to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning and the conservatory is stunning whatever the weather.

Favourite aspect of the grounds or surrounding area: The village is wonderfully peaceful, says Jo, and the community comes together to arrange an annual fete and the odd quiz night. In terms of shopping we have places such as Market Bosworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch close by, and one of the main attractions is the array of really good schools that we have in the local area.

What theyll miss most / why they are leaving: We have actually built a new home within the village so we wont be moving far, says Jo, but there is so much about this house that I shall miss. Its spacious, yet cosy and hugely characterful, and the garden has been my passion for the past nineteen years, so Ill be sad to leave it behind.

Location - Norton Juxta Twycross is a quiet and peaceful village located in Leicestershire, close to the Warwickshire border and is bounded on the east side by the Ashby Canal. It is situated 12 miles from Hinckley, 7 miles from Market Bosworth, 7 miles from Atherstone and 20 miles from Leicester. Birmingham airport is only 23 miles and East Midlands airport is situated 20 miles away and the M42 junction is 3.5 miles away which allows easy access to the Midlands motorway network. There is also a fast train service from Nuneaton to London Euston station.
