LOCATION
Rijnstroom IV, is a 97ft long by 18ft wide original Dutch barge built in Rotterdam, Holland in 1922. Constructed from Iron and Steel she weighs 140 tons. Powered by a 6 cylinder Gardner omnibus engine, driving a single propeller through a German 2 position gearbox. Steering has now been converted to a new hydraulic system using the original rudder.

Originally she was used for transporting grain and other heavy goods around the canals and waterways of Holland. After being purchased by her present owners in September 2006, she was transferred to Island Harbour on the river Medina and then onto her current home at Bembridge Harbour, In the last 6 months she has undergone a complete rebuild with extensive alterations and renovations. Rijnstroom IV could be used as a private residence, a holiday home or provide a lifestyle income as a bed & breakfast flotel.

DESCRIPTION
WHEELHOUSE
Port and Starboard entrances to the new Wheelhouse, via aluminium stable doors, which can be partially or fully hooked open, containing an original opening porthole in the upper section. The new Wheelhouse is a timber and glass construction, solid oak floor, with low level LED lighting in the step risers, and a panelled upward sloping ceiling which contains an opening skylight, and 14 LED downlights. The rear wall is also panelled to match the ceiling with entrance into the Captains Suite situated at the rear of the barge. Access to upper sundeck via sliding patio door. Via the Wheelhouse is the stairway down to the saloon and galley, also constructed in solid oak, with a tubular steel handrail and glass balustrades. The Wheelhouse also houses the new "lectern" style control panel containing the helm wheel, the gear selection and throttle levers, various gauges and navigation instruments.

CAPTAINS SUITE
2 story cabin comprising a lounge on the upper deck level, and master bedroom en-suite on the lower level. The lounge has a solid oak floor and an upward sloping panelled ceiling containing 8 LED downlights. The port and starboard walls each contain 3 porthole windows, and one full height picture window facing forward, and to the rear are fully glazed French doors opening onto a rear balcony. A solid oak stairwell, with tubular steel handrail and glass balustrade, will take you down to the bedroom below. The rear balcony with wooden steps houses the hydraulic steering ram, and lit by 8 low level blue LED lights. It has a tubular steel handrail with PVC coated guard rails.

The bedroom has a panelled ceiling with 6 LED downlights, a built-in double bed with plinth lighting, a built-in wardrobe below the stairs, 2 porthole windows on each side of the room, a carpet covered floor. The shower room has a panelled ceiling with LED downlights, laminate panelled walls and an Altro floor. There are porthole windows on each side and two opening vents to the rear. There is a thermostatically controlled shower, a vanitory wash basin and WC.

SUN DECK
Accessed from the Wheelhouse, the Sundeck area extends 6.5m along the roof of the upper deck, and covers the full width. The deck is covered in a vinyl teak effect deck covering, and the area is protected from the lower walkway and the water by a tubular steel handrail and glass balustrade. The Sundeck is lit at night by 6 LED downlights placed in the roof overhang from the wheelhouse ceiling.

UPPER DECK AREA
Accessed from the Sundeck or from the lower walkway, this area contains the main hatch and fire escape exit from the accommodation rooms below. The main hatch is a hinged lid that provides access to the lower levels ideal all items that are too large to go down the main stairwell. Behind this hatch is the on-deck lock box storage facility. This can be used for the storage of all deck furniture as well as all ancillary items such as jet washers, hose pipes and spare mooring lines.

On each side of the vessel, just below the upper deck is the main walkway running right to the bow of Rijnstroom. At the front or bow end of the walkway is the original manual anchor chain winch, plus the entrance and skylight for the Forepeak or Crews Cabin.

FOREPEAK/CREWS CABIN
Self-contained utility area housing the washing machine, tumble drier and utility sink with ample storage cupboards. From here you have the entrance to the en-suite shower room, and bed chamber. The utility area is well lit and designed to be used as a laundry room, in addition to staff, or spare accommodation. The bed chamber has 2 single bunks, with storage below.

SALOON & GALLEY
Panelled ceiling with LED downlights and additional wall lights. The floor is solid oak except for the galley area which is finished with a slate laminate flooring. The kitchen units have white and aubergine gloss doors and white Earth stone worktops. There is a twin bowl stainless steel sink with mixer tap and waste disposal unit. Built-in electric fan oven and ceramic hob, with glass splash back and stainless steel cooker hood. The kitchen also has an under counter fridge and freezer. The Saloon area is large enough to accommodate a full size dining table and a selection of lounge furniture. At the far end of the Saloon is a fire door giving access to the central corridor, the remaining cabins, and bathrooms.

Built-in double bed with storage below, built-in wardrobe and bedside drawers. Panelled ceiling, wall lights, and table lamp. Fitted carpet, radiator, window and power point.

THE BOATSWAINS CABIN
Built-in double bed with storage below, built-in wardrobe with drawer unit. Panelled ceiling, downlights, and table lamps. Fitted carpet, radiator, window and power point.

THE MASTERS CABIN

FIRST MATES CABIN
