Location

St Ann Street is known as one of the most architecturally interesting streets within Salisbury's city centre. It forms part of the medieval chequer system of Salisbury and as such is a level walking distance from all of the city's excellent range of facilities shopping, educational, cultural and leisure as well as the mainline station which has trains to London Waterloo (journey time - 90 minutes). Salisbury supports a well thought of Playhouse and a twice weekly market. At the end of St Ann Street is St Ann's Gate which leads through to the world famous Cathedral and its beautiful surrounding Close.

Good local schools are numerous and include Salisbury Cathedral School, Leaden Hall, Chafyn Grove, Godolphin School, as well as Bishop Wordsworth and South Wilts Grammar Schools. There is racing at Salisbury and Wincanton, golf at Highpost, South Wilts and Rushmore. Fishing on the River Avon and other nearby chalk streams. The countryside surrounding Salisbury offers large unspoiled areas, ideal for walking and riding. The A303 provides access to the south west and London via the M3.

Description

The Doll's House is Grade II * listed and is possibly the most impressive example of Georgian architecture in Salisbury outside the Cathedral Close. Over the last few years it has been the subject of extensive and careful restoration and is now a wonderful home, suitable for a variety of purchasers.

Throughout the house care has been taken to restore or replicate the numerous period details including elaborate plasterwork, joinery, door surrounds, cornicing, architraves, working shutters, door furniture, panelling and fireplaces . An orangery style extension is a later addition with a stepped lead roof and stunning glass cupolas.

The house provides stylish and elegant accommodation. Of particular note in the entrance hall is the stunning Georgian multi-vaulted ceiling. The main reception rooms, the drawing room and sitting room are situated off the entrance hall. Both these rooms have original fireplaces and fireplace surrounds. The kitchen to the back of the property has Indian limestone flooring, stainless steel kitchen units with carrara marble work tops. The breakfast room has painted wooden wall panelling and attractive decorative cupboards either side of the fireplace. Two sets of double doors lead on to the paved terrace overlooking the private and secluded garden. Leading from the breakfast room is the reading room, this room like the breakfast room forms part of the orangery style extension and again has doors out to the terrace. An internal room, the card room, is situated off the reading room.

Upstairs on the first floor are four double bedrooms, the master bedroom has an ensuite shower room. On the second floor are a further three double bedrooms, with a family bathroom and one of the bedrooms has an en suite wc.

OUTSIDE
The paved terrace runs across the back of the house with steps down to the garden. The garden is formal in style, mainly laid to lawn with pleached hornbeam and espaliered lime trees. The pleached hornbeam trees are underplanted with flower borders. The house can be accessed to the rear of the property via electric wooden gates. There is a double carport and parking on the gravel drive.
