Property for saleCarraig Thura Fishings, Dalmally, Argyll and Bute, PA33
The Fishings are located on the final stretch of the River Orchy as it flows in to Loch Awe, just to the west of Dalmally. The beat is accessed from the car park on the side of the A85 road, and then via a footpath to the railway bridge.
The Title describes the beat as being "the right of fishing for salmon and fish of the salmon kind in that part of the River Orchy in the County of Argyll from the left or southern bank thereof only extending from the railway bridge crossing the said river to the west of Dalmally near Kilchurn Castle, Loch Awe to the outflow of the said River Orchy into Loch Awe". The attached plan shows the approximate length of the beat, marked AB, which we calculate extends to approximately 900 metres or thereby.
The Orchy is the main spawning stream for the Loch Awe system. The season runs from February 11th to October 31st and early running salmon reach the Orchy around May onwards with the best months historically being July to October. The Fishings fall within the jurisdiction of the Argyll District Salmon Fishery Board.
There are no catch records available, and it is understood that the beat has not been fished by the current owner for some time.
