Full description

Hornby is located in the beautiful Lune valley on the A683 road about 8.5 miles from Lancaster and 8 miles from Kirkby Lonsdale.

It is situated close to where the Rivers Wenning and Lune meet. In the centre of the village is St Margaret's Church with its octagonal tower. A mile to the north is the earthwork remains of Castle Stede, a motte-and-bailey castle dating from the eleventh or twelfth century. Hornby Castle overlooks the village. It was started in the 13th century as a replacement for Castle Stede. The tower is 16th century but the rest was constructed during the 18th and 19th centuries. Still occupied, it is one of the most recognisable points of the village. Hornby is a gem of a village with an active village hall, a post office, shops and two excellent pubs and regular bus services to Lancaster and Kirkby Lonsdale.

Castle Park is a picturesque residential re-development of estate buildings in the grounds of Hornby Castle.

The Spinney is a detached family home which has undergone significant works of improvement by the current owners and stands proudly as the centre piece of Castle Park.

The property has had two double storey extensions as well as an extension to the main entrance porch. This has created exquisite living space ideally suited to the modern family. The fixtures and fittings are of the highest quality and the house offers some charming features including internal stained glass windows and a cleverly designed wood burning stove, which is shared between the two main reception rooms.

The house has upside-down living accommodation. The ground floor offers a welcoming entrance hallway, guest bedroom with en-suite shower room and gorgeous sun room overlooking the extensive garden. There is also a spacious utility room and garden room accessing the integral garage.

The first floor has two outstanding reception rooms, one formal lounge and the other currently being used as an office/study. There is an extended dining kitchen that serves as the beating heart of the house with spacious eating area, quality units and appliances with floods of natural light. There are two double bedrooms, including a breathtaking master bedroom, both with ensuite facilities.

Externally, the house sits on an exceptional plot. The garden area is all to the front and has a well-maintained rolling lawn, a range of mature trees, beautifully designed seating areas and plenty of external storage. There is driveway parking for several cars and the house enjoys unrestricted views towards Hornby Castle and the Parish Church.

What The Owner Says
Our house and garden is a haven of tranquillity hidden in the small community of Castle Park yet readily accessible. If you seek a relaxed stress free life style this could be for you.
