Why you’ll like it:

As with many of its neighbours, this house was built in the 1930s when space and light were of utmost importance, and when there was a revival of Tudorbethan styles; typically gabled, with hung tiles, and a grand oak front door. You approach up a very large driveway, past an immaculate front lawn, where you are welcomed in to a very spacious entrance hall, from which the size of the house is immediately apparent.

Directly ahead, double doors lead through to the luxurious kitchen with high quality, buttermilk gloss units, topped with dark granite, and which also form a large central island with breakfast bar. Three Smeg ovens including a microwave are integrated into the wall units, and the dishwasher is integrated below the counter, as is the Smeg induction hob. The porcelain floor tiles are large in slate grey, and are heated from below, and three contemporary pendants light the space. The garage has been transformed into a utility room, which is accessed from here, but there is still enough space for a motorbike or for storage in the section accessed from the drive.

You can enter the living and dining room from the hall, and also from the kitchen, so there’s a lovely circular flow which is fantastic when entertaining guests, and convenient for carrying plates through to the table. The floor in here is solid walnut to compliment the ceiling beam above the open fire. This has a decorative marble surround, and the chimney flue is lined for efficiency. This side of the room is for relaxing, with a wall mounted TV for cordless entertainment, and a deep bay window with views across the treetops to the sea. The far side is for formal dining, and has a set of bifolding doors which seamlessly open to the garden to make it an extension of the house in the summer months, and give a lovely view of the pool; especially in the evening when it is lit up.

Returning to the house, you climb a turning staircase to the first floor where there are four double bedrooms and the family bathroom. The master bedroom has a deep walk in wardrobe, and a generous en suite with a modern rolltop bathtub and more glossy tiles on the floor. Bedroom three has a unique atrium so it is wonderfully light, and this too has an en suite, on trend with white metro brick tiling around the shower cubicle. Bedroom two is also en suite, and the main bathroom has floor to ceiling tiles in urban concrete around the walk in shower with a rainfall showerhead.

Bear in mind:

A part of the garden has been separated from the property to be sold with planning permission to build a single storey dwelling within it, which would have private access from the front.

Owner’s secret:

“This has been such a fantastic house to bring the children up in. It’s so tranquil you feel like you are in the middle of the countryside rather than ten minutes from the city.”
