Directions - By road, from Derby, the site is best approached by leaving the city on Friar Gate onto Ashbourne Road, at the Markeaton traffic island continue straight across on the A52 towards Ashbourne. On entering Ashbourne, at the bottom of Derby Hill continue slightly right and straight across at the traffic lights into Compton, proceeding over the river bridge and at the next T-junction turn right into St. Johns Street and follow the road round to the left passing Market Square, before proceeding up Buxton Hill. At the top of Buxton Hill turn left at the Bowling Green Public House and Restaurant into North Avenue to find the site on the left-hand side.
