LOCAL INFORMATION Bewdley is a quaint Georgian town having a variety of amenities for locals and the visitor alike.

Doctors, dentist, vets, chemists, eating houses, and small food stores. There are many places of interest including the museum, library etc. There are markets along the river organised throughout the year and other events. There is a health club at the Ramada Hotel just outside the town.

The West Midlands Safari Park is also worth a visit and is within half a mile form the town centre.

Don't forget to visit the Railway station which hosts many events throughout the year including Thomas the Tank and the Santa special for the youngsters, theme events too for the older enthusiast including the 40s weekends.

The town also plays host to the carnival which stages events leasing up to the parade including a great fireworks display. The rowing club which is highly regarded across the country holds its regatta here and sees visitors and entrants from all over the world. The Wyre Forest with its walks and wildlife is on the doorstep too and shouldn't be overlooked.

Stourport has a wide variety of shops including some small supermarkets. There is a sports arena with a swimming pool. A larger variety of shops are to be found in Kidderminster some 3 ½ miles away. The renowned Merry Hill Shopping complex is around a 20 minute drive away and boasts all the leading high street stores.

Kidderminster was once the capital throughout the world for its carpet manufacturing. The industry has survived the decline of this major employment and business and diversified into a thriving town. Old buildings which were in times gone by, full of workers and a hive of activity had fallen into disrepair. Now they have been brought back to life to provide us with some history and a new generation of occupants and usage.

The canal was used for the transport of goods and fuel for these large factories, yet now provides the back drop for the eating houses and shops etc which nestle beside the water. Many visitors will use the waterways on their narrow boats which are navigable between Kidderminster, Wolverley, Stourport and Birmingham. Change has happened yet the town is bustling again with vibrant appealing shops and eating establishments.

Wolverley Arboretum, Kinver Edge are both well visited beauty spots, so you are never far away from grand scenery and wide open spaces. The Wyre Forest boasts wonderful wildlife and many miles of footpaths.

There is a train station in Kidderminster which provides a service to Birmingham, London and Worcester and beyond which is ideal if one works in the city. There is a bus service too which runs regularly.

For supermarket shopping etc, Kidderminster Town Centre has Tesco, Sainsbury's, Asda, Aldi and Morrison's, Co operative store, with many more top high street stores. There is a small cinema and leisure facilities as well as a wide selection of eating houses. There are two main retail parks just off the town centre which have varied larger stores with good parking facilities too.

Stourport is a well visited river side town with many day and holiday trippers. The river and superb renowned canal and basin area have undergone massive rejuvenation in the last few years. Indeed the basin is one of the largest in the country.

Ideal location for commuting, with a good road network to M5, M6, M42, Birmingham, Stourbridge and Wolverhampton and Worcester all within travelling distance. As we have already mentioned the Kidderminster railway station provides good frequent travel.
