The house which is thought to date from the 17th century has been extended and altered over the years, particularly in the late 19th century and early 20th centuries when the majority of the extensions and alterations were carried out. Originally part of Church Hill Farm the property became a successful racing stable around 1800 training the Triple Crown winner, Lord Lyon and later training for King Edward VIII who was a regular visitor to East Ilsley. This handsome village house which retains many of its original features has excellent family accommodation with well-proportioned reception rooms and good sized bedrooms. In addition the accommodation includes a large partly converted room which would be ideal as a games or media room, an office or as additional accommodation.
To the front of the house is a gravel parking area for several cars enclosed by brick walling and a flower bed with steps leading down to a stone terrace opposite the front door and with a gate opening onto the village street. A door opens into an attractive covered passage off which is a store/boot room and access to the rear south facing part walled garden where there is a sheltered terrace and a lawn enclosed by well stocked herbaceous borders with shrubs and trees. A brick arch and gate opens onto a further garden with a greenhouse and lawn.
