Seller Insight - My wife first noticed the property in 1994, recalls Richard. It was adjoining the house
that I grew up in, and where at the time my mother still lived. We bought the property in 1994 and
envisaged retiring here, so we could be close to family. Janet travelled back to England frequently to project manage the major renovation involving new plumbing, wiring, bathrooms and kitchen and in 1999 the couple left their life in Hong Kong behind and moved into the property, where they have remained for the past 17 years.

Being late Georgian, the property is full of original period features. I have always admired
the beautiful Georgian symmetry of the house since I was a child, he continues. All of the
rooms are very spacious and the huge windows and high ceilings make the house light and
airy. It is a quiet sunny house with the main reception rooms and bedrooms all facing south
over the gardens. In the 1860s the property was a boys school, Mr Bushells Academy;
Latin inscriptions from the time can still be found pencilled into the wall of an upstairs
bedroom, We came across the writing whilst stripping wallpaper many years ago and felt a
real connection to the history of the property so have left it on display.

The garden room is beautiful all year round and provides a real sanctuary throughout the
seasons. In the summer the shade from the magnolia tree provides welcome respite from
the sun, though having the French doors open means we can still feel as though we are in
the garden. In the winter when the leaves have fallen, the south facing aspect makes the
room a real suntrap, with light streaming in through the windows. There is an elegant
drawing room, a large kitchen and dining/family room area with an AGA which keeps the
house warm all year through, while the cosy wood burner in the sitting room provides the
perfect winter retreat. The walled garden has herbaceous borders and has been opened as
part of the National Gardens Scheme for many years.

Pershore is a lovely small town and so convenient; a very short walk to the shops and
restaurants in the town and its just a ten minute walk down to the Avon Meadows nature
reserve and the river frontage. Janet and Richard find there is a lot of social activity in the town with an Arts Centre for film and theatre, concerts in the Abbey just round the corner and many groups of special interest to join. Janet says you can seldom walk up into the town without meeting someone you know!
