Brickworks Says - There is no point hiding it; we are a little bit in love with this house. The rooms are huge, with wonderfully high ceilings and expansive sash windows that bathe the interconnected spaces in natural light. We also adore the way the dining room (which has a glazed roof) links the reception rooms to the kitchen, but one can equally walk the other way, via the hallway, giving the downstairs a lovely, circular flow.

Upstairs there are four bedrooms, three of which are very large. They are all immaculately presented too, with great love and attention to detail, and the materials and fittings used throughout, such as the Bisque radiators, are top-notch. There is also the walk-in larder to mention, plus a garage / workshop space and off-street parking.

Arguably, however, the best thing about the whole house is the verdant (23m x 10m) walled garden to the rear which is simply stunning. Full of mature trees and flowers and surrounded on three sides by handsome, weathered brickwork, it feels secluded and romantic.

On their own, the garden or the house would stand out, but taken together they elevate this remarkable home and make it very special indeed.

The Owners Say - We genuinely love this house and have poured our hearts and souls into it. When we first saw it we called it The 1 in 1,000 house; a very rare and special find. It is historically beautiful, with a magnificent garden but more than that, and something we grew to appreciate over time - it is a really practical family home that has made raising young children in London so much easier.

There is a big garden for the kids to run around, a large utility space to store bikes and kit, a walk-in larder, off-street parking and the rooms are huge. It is hard to find just some of these things in a London property, let alone all them. It is an incredible house and in London terms one of the very best. Likewise, our street, Bedford Road, has an amazing community spirit. We are truly very sad to be leaving.

Points To Consider - The owners have secured planning permission to remodel the ground floor and build up into the loft. Permissions and architect drawings, commissioned by the owners, can be provided on request.

The garage was rebuilt a couple of years ago to a very high specification, with a properly insulated floor, double cavity walls plus skylight. The intention was to future proof the space, so it could eventually be incorporated into the main house. This was never done, but the opportunity is there. The legacy is a traditional looking garage, which is actually more akin to a studio or workshop. In short, another thoroughly usable, and hugely practical space.

Transport links are fantastic. As well as Seven Sisters just around the corner (one stop from Finsbury Park on the Victoria line) you also have Tottenham Hale tube and Overground nearby which is great for the Stansted Express. Numerous buses run from the end of the road too, and go in various directions, including Hackney and Waterloo.

South Tottenham, and the streets in-and-around Downhills Park in particular, have been a bit of hidden secret for a couple of years now, but the proverbial cat is well and truly out of the bag. People are increasingly drawn to the area by the excellent transport links, strong primary schools, investment in local infrastructure and burgeoning community-spirit, all of which make it a fantastic place to raise a family.

Brickworks Loves - The Salisbury: the grand building that is home to The Salisbury is seriously majestic and harps back to the days when the area was really rather posh. It is both a relief and a delight that despite various refurbishments over the years, no one has gone and done anything silly like ripping out the original Victoria saloon bar and decor, which are ornate and atmospheric. This is a great pub and even better when you can call it your local.

Craving Coffee: this independent coffee company has justifiably become a Mecca for Tottenham coffee lovers. So forget corporate Costa and grab a proper double Macchiato from Matt & Rachel and the gang. Oh, and they have an alcohol licence too (as and when required).

Sushi-Heads: literally just around the corner, this brilliant Japanese place has recently sprung up under the ownership of a local Mum (she makes all the sushi herself too). If you place your order during the day, you can pick it up on your way home from work, ready for an easy supper. We particularly recommend the fried chicken teriyaki. Lip-smackingly good.

Lee Valley Regional Park: following the river of the same name, this 10,000-acre park and wetlands supports a wide range of wildlife and is reachable within about 20 minutes by car, making it the perfect place to get up close to some wildlife. Brilliant for kids and families, with numerous activities available from horse riding to white water rafting, or cycling and ice skating. Equally perfect for a long, Sunday walk if you want to escape the London crush.
