Vendor Interview - Situated in a glorious countryside location, no more than ten minutes drive from the thriving town of Market Bosworth, is Bilstone, a charming hamlet that once formed part of the Gopsall Estate. Ive lived in this area for most of my life, says the vendor, in fact I was born just a mile from here, and I absolutely love it. My husband and I did move away for a brief spell, but we were always keen to come back, and when he was relocated for work thirteen years ago we saw it as the ideal opportunity. However, when people move to Bilstone they tend to stay, and therefore finding a property proved to be quite a difficult task, so when we discovered that Drove House was up for sale we jumped at the chance to buy it.

The previous owner had been here for many years and it was rather tired looking and stuck in a bit of a 1960s time warp, but over the years weve gradually renovated the entire property in a very sympathetic way. Weve replaced all of the bathrooms, knocked through the dining room and the kitchen to create a big farmhouse kitchen, added a beautiful conservatory, refurbished the swimming pool The list goes on. Its definitely been an on-going process, but its been a real pleasure as it will be around a lot longer than we will.

An aspect of the house that we have particularly enjoyed is that it feels very connected to the garden, which is a lovely big space that overlooks the rolling fields beyond. The large sitting room leads out into the courtyard, which is a big sheltered spot that gets the sun for most of the day, and the conservatory opens onto the main garden. It extends to around three quarters of an acre and has the swimming pool right in the middle with a pretty summerhouse overlooking it. It really is a beautiful space, and one that weve gained a lot of pleasure from.

Favourite Room: Id say that our favourite part of the house is probably the kitchen as its where we tend to spend a lot of our time. We have an Aga and a wood-burning stove, so its cosy and warm in winter, and it not only leads straight into the conservatory, but also the lovely little snug where we have a sofa and the TV.

This is a hamlet of only a dozen or so houses, but we certainly dont feel cut off. Market Bosworth is only a few minutes away, and were not too far from the motorway, so getting to places such as Birmingham, Nottingham, Coventry and Leicester is very easy. We also have some excellent schools in the local area, so its a wonderful place to bring up a family. We regularly have dinner parties together and often have a quick drink in the local pub as a group

As well as the very large garden, we also have a generous parking area thats hidden from view behind a wall. It incorporates a double garage with a mezzanine level, which is ideal for storage.

What theyll miss most / why they are leaving: I love everything about this house and it will be a real wrench to leave, but its now just my husband and I here and we feel that the time is right to downsize, Id describe Drove House as a real family home and weve certainly enjoyed every minute of our time here.

Location - The property is approximately 3.5 miles from J11 of the M42 with easy access to the M1, M6, Birmingham airport and East Midlands airport. The property is also close to Market Bosworth which as a small market town offers a wealth of independent shops, restaurants and public houses. Numerous well regarded private and public schools are also within the region.
