Why you’ll like it


The generous semi-detached houses which line the crescent were built in 1899, when space and light were of utmost importance when building a family home. The exteriors have elements of the Tudor revival period with dark paneling on white render, but also, red brick, and pretty hung tiled facades with gables and wide, multi pane sash windows. This house is an exceptional example, and it has clearly been well maintained, and you approach up a stone path, past a pretty front garden which has been made private from the street with planting and attractive iron railings.


The original front door opens up to fun vestibule, with feature geometric wallpaper, and then into a spacious entrance hall with classic chequerboard flooring, and ornate plasterwork adoring the high ceilings. The elegant living room is first on the left, and has fresh rose walls where the woodwork has been picked out in white. The floor is stripped and polished boards in honeyed tones, and the south wall feels almost entirely glazed, framing the leafy views to the south. There is a white mantle for decoration, but the fire is not currently open as the chimney above was removed. There is however scope to add a wood burning stove with an external flue, subject to planning consents of course as it is a conservation area.


The kitchen dining room is to the rear of the house, and is the perfect size for the keen cook, or those with a penchant to entertain. The units are plenty and in a cream shaker style, combining cupboards, drawers and glass cabinets. The carpets in all bedrooms are new and also in grey for continuity, and to complement any style of furnishings. The en suite bathroom has a traditional style suite and fittings, and white panelling around the bath.


There are two further bedrooms on this floor. One is currently set up as a dressing room with a full wall of built in wardrobes and a dressing table, but this could easily be converted back. The other is accessed down a couple of steps with a bathroom opposite, so it would make an excellent and private guest suite.


A further flight takes you to to the top floor where there’s two further generous double bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, and a smaller double being used as an office.
